The name HEMI comes from the hemispherical design of the engine’s cylinder heads. The unique design of the HEMI’s combustion chamber produces the following benefits:
• Reduces heat loss and increases air/fuel volume for more power without increasing compression
• Valves are placed directly across from each other allowing for better intake and exhaust gas flow
• Position of the spark plugs allow for optimal combustion in the chambers

AVAILABLE WITH ALL-NEW ETORQUE TECHNOLOGY: The all-new eTorque mild hybrid system
available on the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 (DT) delivers supplemental torque of 130 lb-ft as well as improved efficiency. This innovative system replaces the traditional alternator on the 5.7L HEMI engine with a belt-driven motor generator unit. The motor generator unit works with a 48-volt battery pack to enable quick and seamless Engine Stop/Start (ESS) function, short-duration torque addition to the engine crankshaft in certain driving situations and brake energy regeneration, which improves responsiveness and efficiency.
